  • Proud of my pumpkins!

Pic to follow later, but was very pleased after getting the grand total of NONE last year, because I have 3 pumpkins weighing in at 11 1/2 lb, 12lbs and 12 1/2 lbs.

My little boy is looking forward to carving one!

Well done janeyo. Not sure what it is but there is something magical about a good big pumpkin. Can't help stroking them. They seem so tactile.

    Perhaps it's just me.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

Well done with the pumpkins! Some nice weights there. What variety did you grow? I grew some 'spellbound' this year with my best being around 7lbs.

I think growing pumpkins for carving at an early age has to be the reason why I'm so involved with growing my own veg now. Its a great way to get kids involved into growing.

Your son will have a great time carving them!

Try dill's atlantic giant variety, i grew one last year that was 42lbs and an old boy in my allotments gave me one cause he couldn't lift it, it weighed just under 100lbs, i'm going to try and beat it this year!

I grew Dills Atlantic last year and just this week sliced the pumpkin up and fed it to the chooks. They really relished it and I managed to get some seeds from it for next year.
It wasn't massive but I reckon it probably weighed around 50lb or so.

Just going to use the seed I gathered this year so here's hoping!

                  *faints

And I was very pleased with myself with my 12 pounder lol.

I can't even imagine a pumpkin at 60 pound let alone the size of a small planet!
