The Hallowe'en '09Pumpkin Carving Competition (Which isn't a competition)
I can't wait till Halloween next year. I had always regarded it as being a bit of a bore with all the trick and treat. Getting an insight as to it's other possibilities is intriguing. I shall be buying up all 'passed sell by' for the next few weeks and having a go myself.
I put mine in my front window. When I came home today his mouth had fallen shut, I went to pick it up and the whole bottom fell off and water gushed out! Not sure what's gone on there, I'd guess it had just rotted, but it did it so quickly and the amount water seems out of place.

I found that a hobbycraft knife (almost like a scalpel) to work best for most of the carving. Plus some wood/clay sculpting tools that I bought off ebay for very little money, which strip the bulk of the flesh off.
Tommorrow is the big day where I carve my estimated 333lb pumpkin into what should look like a witch. Fingers crossed it will go ok. Will put some pics up once its complete.
What a smiley chap, I gather Beans got some teeth then Wayne???
Aye, very much like his big punkin cousin. However, Bean has 5 (nearly 6) teeth, and punkin has only four. I did some accidental dentistry whilst "polishing" his teeth.
