  • Still got flowers!

Now that the wind is howling around the house and the rain lashing the windows thought you might like to see a photograph of what it was like here at 3.00 this afternoon. I then took some pics of flowers still going strong in the greenhouse. Frankly I'm amazed they are still surviving. Particularly the nasturtiums which are still flowering from the summer and the pelagoniums which alot of people in Shetland told me would not survive!

Any other "northern" flowers still going strong?

Aerodynamically the bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly, but the bumblebee doesn't know that so it goes on flying anyway.

I'm impressed Jennie! The panoramic sunset view is gorgeous, is that a view from your home? If so its lovely, I envy you the view, but not the weather!

Flowers are lovely Jennie, I take it your greenhouse is heated to keep them going like that!

Yes Mrs D - that's the view from our house. We are very lucky.

And my greenhouse is unheated - soon to change though as in the end, despite all the humming and haaring I got a Parasene heater. There was one for sale in the shop here, just the right size, and only teh one, so thought it must be mine!

Nice one Jennie! I had roses in flower till they blew off in the wind. Think the carnations are still on the go too but thats about it. Daffs are coming up though.

I have osteopermums (excuse my spelling), fuschia and a little trailing lobelia flowering at the front of the house (unless the pots have blown away and I haven't noticed yet!)

Lovely pics Jennie. Nothing like flowers to brighten up this awful weather. We're just being lashed with wind and rain - but it's not cold.
The Fuchsias in the garden are still flowering. They've never given in. And the winter flowering helebores are good. Other things are doing the odd, sporadic flower. Don't think the daffodils will be long - they're well up.

Very wet and windy here in Suffolk, but very mild apart from one week of frost before Xmas. Purple osteospermum in flower just up the road, I've got primroses and Kerria in flower, daffs and tulips showing. Roses haven't stopped, but I think the buds on the camellia aren't as far ahead as they usually are at this time of the year. Strange, isn't it?
