  • Caledonian Squash

No, not a variety but a geographical question. Another grape in Scotland asked me if sqaush would do well here, so posting these pics to show how I grew them and the result. I got 3 squash per plant. They were said to be butternut sprinter but I have some doubt about that, but they were all excellent. You can see them rambling over the gravel and they got bigger after that.

That's great to see Alice, I'm growing squash for the first time this year (well, I tried courgettes last year and I think they probably would have been fine if not for the leatherjackets and sheep!!) and this is good encouragement for me!

Good luck with them Birdie wife. I think they should be OK for you. Hope you got that sheep problem sorted out.

Great pics, Alice. How wonderful, how encouraging! It's squashus caledonicus for me this season. I didn't think they'd be that successful out-of-doors as far north, AND in 12" pots. To tell you the truth, I suspect witchcraft.

I think you are right on saying that they are not butternut sprinter. I grew them last year and they were different in shape. They were gorgeous, so I'll be growing them again this year

By the way, your pictures look great! so well organised!
