Can we have another GYO competition this year?

Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please...

I know it was a hastle last year, and some fairies got their undies in knots about it, but the vast majority of us really enjoyed it.

I was thinking, what you could do is:
- set the different categories
- as soon as a category has 8 entries, close it and open a new one
- once the entry date closes, allow voting.
- once a winner from each subcategory has been allocated, choose the top couple from each like category to compete for the true top spot.

I know it's quite a lot of work for you, but we do love you for it

I think it's a wonderful idea Ollie (course I would say that - I don't have to do any of the work!!) - and maybe I could suggest some extra categories, inspired by lettucegrow's thread about her two new ladies? As so many of us keep chickens now, maybe we could have some poultry categories too - what about

1. Most Improved hen/cheeriest story
before and after pics for ex-batts who arrive oven-ready and a few months later are happily dustbathing fully feathered
2. Most handsome bantam
3. Biggest egg
Pic of egg on the scales!
4.Friendliest hen
5. Fluffiest knickers

That sort of thing?

I'm unable to organise my own entry into the competition, so it's unlikely I'd be any good at doing the whole event!

Right, I'm back.

I think I can safely say that, as long as I'm still moderating, there'll be a Show of some description. Possibly along those lines Ollie, although there is some hitches with doing it that way - what if you get 2 threads of 8 entries, and 1 with only 3? But I'm prepared to put the work in behind the scenes. I just hope that lots of Grapes will be similarly committed, so it's worth it!

But, what I reeeally hope will happen, is that we'll get a dedicated board for the whole Show and the magazine will get involved too. IF we get a new board for it, Admin can set it up so that voting can happen the way we originally planned last year, or maybe in a way we haven't even though of... I know that Lucy (Editor) would have loved to get involved with it last year, it just didn't work out with what they already had going on. So fingers crossed
