I have no difficulty resizing my pics in Paintshop, but there seems to be no software on the main part of the forum for uploading them. I can put them in albums on my profile page without difficulty, so why do I have to download yet another program to get them into the posts?

You don't. Just click on the go advanced tab at the bottom of the reply pane and click on the attachment icon (paperclip) and you will be able to attach pictures to your post with no problem.

Another free app. which is a basic photoshop type app, has loads of features you'd expect to pay for, but is totally free, is photoscape

Photoscape : Free Photo Editing Software (Photo Editor) Download

              Excellent for all photo manipulation.

Well, I didn't find any 'advanced go' or a paperclip icon, but I did find the 'manage attachments' button and it all went like clockwork from then on. Thanks folks.
