  • Potato flowers

Just thought it'd be interesting to see photos of your potato flowers.
Poor things seem to be ignored- and they are actually quite pretty - and each variety is slightly different

I found this link and it made me think about how the poor things are only noticed then they die off.

Any one fancy taking some piccies- and sharing the variety??

I've got Rocket and Premiere in as my earlies - no sign of flowers on Premiere as of this morning but premiere is in bloom and very pretty too.
Funny, I had intended bringing my camera this evening and taking a few snaps too.

Pipkins - probably Hunter. The link Nicos posted shows Desiree as a pale flower. That's a really striking purple though. I almost grew Hunter too, I might be tempted to put a couple in the ground next year for the blossom alone!

Not the best picture, but as it was raining I didn't want to go out

Most of my spuds are flowering - Charlotte, Rocket, Rooster - and even the Maris Pipers are forming flower buds. They all look the same though?

edit: Can't seem to insert with the [img] vbb code - attached pic instead.

They look like my potatoe flowers.

I planted some early ones and cant for the life of me remember what they were. I know (as i am new to potatoe growing) that they were a type i hadnt heard of before.

Can you remember what the seed potatoes looked like when you planted them? I think mine had a purplish tint to them.

Sorry for sounding dim and i know i will know before too long

Also is it possible to identify potatoes from their flowers or are a whole lot of them the same?

                              thanks in advance
