  • So proud of my produce

Here is part of my pumpkin harvest - not bad to say that I stuck them in and apart from a bit of well rotted manure they have been left to go wild.....
Unfortunately my Spaniel Boots is rather proud of them too - the look like big balls to him and he has taken to guarding them.

I have also attached a picture of my first Baking apple which weighed in at 1.1lb. This was the first year it has been allowed to fruit - it made a rather fantastic apple pie.

If ever I thought the effort wasn't worth it then I just need to look at these..

Very impressive Sprocket, well done - I usually only grow Urchi Kuri squash but I think I might have to have a go at some others next year!

Wow the squash are amazing. I started off 12 plants only 2 survived and only 1 produced 1 squash. Tasted good but not a good return, have no idea what I did wrong. But yours are great. Perhaps we should start a thread who produced the most squash?

Great stuff.. What are those small squashes? I just had some Crown Prince the other day - it's fabulous.

Is the storage of them affected by the vines being cut so short? Only asking, as I don't know.. mine have like 2' of blooming vine still attached to them! I'd rather lop it off like you have though!

Thanks for the positive comments I am so proud! The small ones are dumpling squash I think - Boots removed all the labels when they went in so I am alittle unsure!

I have a plot that is about 40m x 15m - some of which is left to the wild life!!! I just put them in amongst the other veg and let them ramble - the corwn prince did rather well amongst the Sweetcorn.

Am off to browse the catelogue for next year - turned one into Lamb and Pumpkin Curry last night....yum yum

Can I ask how many did you get per plant, I think I read somewhere that one or two is the norm?
