A boiling of Arran Pilot for tea. Three spuds went in a big tub in the greenhouse in February. I furtled these out but there are planty more in there. It's worth a bit of faffing - earthing up and covering with bubble wrap when frosts were forecast. Hot with butter - I'm slavering at the thought!

I dug up our first Ulster Classic on Sunday from the bed in the polytunnel and we had them for our wedding anniversary tea on Monday along with the first meal of early peas. Was truely lovely and made me smile, a lot . First tatties I've had for while as last years stored ones ran out about a month ago but we should have enough from the ones in the tunnel (Ulster Classic and International Kidney) to last us until the first outdoor ones are ready
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

They were gorgeous too! Room for a polytunnel would be delightful Alison. My little greenhouse has to do for everything.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Really love my tunnel, it was bought for doing loads of toms, peppers etc in summer but is a revelation for the colder months - had brassicas in there over winter and already have courgettes forming and broadies almost ready (well ahead of outside) on top of the peas, potatoes and mange tout. Should be pulling early carrots in a few weeks too - sooooooo exciting

Hi All
I've had a furtle in our first potato bag and found these, White Duke of York. They were planted in February in a bag and kept in the polytunnel, all wrapped up in fleece etc for weeks to keep the frost at bay. They have some tiny white dots which I think means they might be slightly too wet but this is the first year i've grown them in a bag so i'm delighted and can't wait to try them.
P.S. I think i've managed to get a photo on properly for the first time - what a day!!Attached Files
