Virtual Show 2011 - most beautiful photo

Hi all,
well, this was my first virtual show and I must say I enjoyed it very much. Thank you to all who made it possible. It was a relaxing evening ritual to browse the categories and vote, wonderful.

But one thing crossed my mind that I found really missing, even though I'm not sure whether it's possible at all: a vote for "The most beautiful photo"!

A poll is probably not possible as it would have to list each and every entry of all the classes. But maybe we can honour the most beautiful pictures here? Which one was your favourite not because of what it showed, but how it showed it?

I can assure you it's down to the camera though, not me (any of Zaz's photos would beat mine hands down, any day, pips)

Hmmmm, it's a good idea Nellie, but I'm not sure we could work it As you say, it would be one mighty big poll! I'll have a ponder... Perhaps we could have it as a separate category next year?

Hi TS,
why that one? Well, because it's got a special atmosphere. You see, when I took my tomato etc. pictures, I took everything outside and put it on the patio table so I had as much light as possible. But your onions seem to be in comparatively dark room, with only a little light coming in from one side, which creates an atmosphere of a casual, everyday scene, perhaps even a little mysterious. It's more than just an impartial, matter-of-fact picture meant to show all the details. The light in it is beautiful.

Sarz, the longer I think about it, the more I think it would be an interesting category, for the photography lovers among us gardeners

Hi nellie-m, I must agree with you on Two Sheds photograph. The composition and lighting are spot on. I suspect a lot of time and effort went into makeing this picture what it is. I,ve seen worst pictures in Profesional magazines. Well done Two Sheds, Regards Mick.

Some of you may know the book "Plant Kingdoms", with the photographs of Charles Jones (born 1866).
Dare I say (hope that's not regarded as spam but honestly, I don't sell books ) it makes a lovely present for Christmas for anyone obsessed with vegetables (like e.g. me, got it from DH some years ago and still love it)
