  • First potato harvest 2013

    Hi all,

I've harvested a few tubs of Lady Christl recently and although they've tasted great, yields haven't been great - all started in Feb in Greenhouse.

So imagine my surprise today when I harvested these Epicure. I thought they'd take longer than the Lady Christl's, but I've noticed they've (haulms especially) grown much better/bigger/faster than the LC's, and I'm guessing that they're a better variety to cope with a bit colder temperatures.

Big bowl is 975g of Epicure (from 2 tubers in a 30l tub (24th Feb))
Small bowl is 75g of LC (1 tuber in MFB (17th Feb))

Just a little bit of scab on the Epicures, which I can scrape off before cooking tomorrow to have with the BBQ!!

It may be because the Epicure had an extra 5l of compost/space per tuber than the Lady Cristl? Flower buckets are only 10l capacity...
