  • you may have noticed .....

.... that I have been absent for a few days just recently, well I can announce now I've had a sex change and am now called gloria ...... only joking but I wish I could see your faces

A few montsh ago I posted a before & after piccy of the garden and said it was in need of a make over well
    it looked like this

Well afer about 10 years it sort of snuck out of control and ended up like this

so it was time to tidy up as I lost sight of the pond !!! & the pump has packed in so time to replace it methinks. With that in mind Master & Miss grief under expert guidance from the deck chair started a bit of light pruning and here is the result

So now I have a blank canvass to use to please Mrs Grief ... thats a more tricky job

Welcome back, Nick. Now we need some clues on those teaser piccies you posted. The photos are beautiful, and it is amazing how hard it is to identify a single flower head with no foliage.

No, but we have found a blackbirds nest with two chicks in the Clematis The Waterlily has gone Rampant with the last couple of days sunshine as well. We've got a new filter & pump to fit that should handle around 1500 gallons/hour as that "little" pond is actually 5ft deep so holds about 2000 gallons of water & the 6 goldfish we had off my sister has multplied to about 60!!

As to whats going in there, well I like (no better make that Love) Lavender so I fancy a nice Lavender hedge around the pond and underplanted with Daffodills for Spring, a few Potentilla's as Mrs G like them and then maybe a few bedding plants.

The top half is going to be Slabs to match the patio ( mock York stone jobs - nice creamy buff colour) and I shall build another Arch and then either slabs or Concrete the path although we have loads of old bicks so these bedded into concrete & edged with cobbles sounds good.

The far end of the pond where the small bed is I shall re-do in wall blocks rather than the wooden edging and then grow a few Dahlia's in summer and put the cold frame on it in the winter/spring.

The bed on the right hand side I'm thinking of putting some posts & wires up and growing a few fruit trees against it - not sure yet may just leave it as Alchemilla Mollis & Lavender & maybe sneak a few more roses in

I reckon that should take me up to next year easy as I've got lottie No.2 to do and the bottom half of the garden to re do but that will probable use the gravel from the top half.

Blank Canvas ? I thought I'd clicked onto the wrong photo .........

If Mrs G fell in love with Scotland last week you'll have to plant a few rhododenrums ......
