  • Home made strawberry tower

Well, sort of!. A couple of years ago my neighbour was about to incinerate a whole pallet and she was astonished when I asked if I could have it.
My husband cut it in half for me and one half is fixed behind the shed and the divisions are ideal for storing my canes in height order.
As you can see, this year I decided to use the other half like this.
I painted it with fence paint, lined it with bags and put in my home grown woodland strawberries. They seem to like it, they've been in there a few days now and look quite healthy, even throwing runners which I have taken off.

Brilliant idea Sanjo! There was something vaguely similar at the Malvern show that resembled V-shaped planters, each on top of the other, making it about 4' high. It was planted with strawberries and lettuces and similar small plants on each level with some larger plants in the top planter. What I noticed about that one was that each plant was being forced out by the wooden V above and, TBH it didn't look a very good idea. Yours, however, seems much better and all the nicer for being Free.
Send us more photos when you have fruit!

This is an absolutely great idea. I love the idea of painting it and making it part of the garden home. Those puppies look quite healthy, too.
