Hi Mods if this is the wrong forum for this what will be a blog please move it
Hi there one and all and welcome to what I hope will end in a "fruitful" happy ending by the end of this summer as we now embark upon a re-vamp of an unloved unkept cottage garden in Morar Mallaig Lochaber a stunningly beautiful place to live I have no doubts about this although the feasibility of getting this garden shipshape before the winter I am far more concerned with let me fill you in:
The property is a 1930's ex roads mans cottage overlooking the famous "Silversands beaches of the river Morar (if you google Silversands Of Morar that's the view we get every morning when we pull the blinds) stunning as this is it presents us with various problems, salty air, very sandy soil and on a serious corner with altitude being but a few, let alone the access is difficult the property had little in the way of grass plants or anything very much really and a septic tank to also get around, oh yeah not forgetting the godam knotweed of course ...... And the deer that roam and eat almost everything in sight......then a severe lack of affordable workers, our nearest B&Q a 240m drive and even our nearest builders yard is an 80m drive so supplies must be pre thought out all in all a lot more of a task than first envisaged however we are wholly determined to get it all knocked back into shape before winter (well the big stuff anyway)
Currently working on the start of a frame on which to site both our shed and our new greenhouse upon (both in boxes in our back bedroom?) the heightening of all our rear fencing to keep the deer out, self teaching ourselves to deck and block lay so as to build a low retaining wall along the frontage and down the side of our driveway before the winter arrives and causes more erosion in the process..
I am duly hoping this thread will serve as a blog if you like as we progress (when I can workout how to upload images I will do of what were up to and how were getting on in the meantime if anyone has any suggestions that might assist us with any of the points raised above feel free to let me know
Thanks
