Alternative uses for flexible/extendable hose (vacuum cleaner)

Very ingenious veggie and good use of recycled material.

I've got the simple alternative though.............two water butts!

Twice the cost and floor space though Snadge
I'm going to do something similar on the other GHs - all I need to do is find some spare plastic pipe and fittings (maybe I should go work for Potty for a few days )

It's not the 8am start you should worry about it's the time you will have to start out to get here.

No overnight lodge allowance I am afraid.

Potty (tight as a ducks bum and that's water tight).

You should be able to run to a duck house then Potty.......or in my case, a chicken coop

If you could cut a hole in the glass to run the pipe through, you could have the water butt on the inside of the greenhouse. Much handier...

Handier but uses up valuable growing space. Maybe leave the water butt outside but cut a hole in the glass for the tap?

But it wouldn't be overflowing, it would be automatic watering

You could have one inside and one outside, connected by syphon, and levelled so it would be the outside one that overflowed.

Of course, with 3 GHs all within long distance spitting distance of each other and at different levels, I could connect up all GHs on a watering "ringmain". The highest GH (which is also one of the larger ones) would have the primary water butt and the other GHs would be gravity fed from that. The last GH in the chain is the one in the photo, so the overflow could be fed onto the adjacent beds (not yet built).
This could be a real test for the thinkers outside the box
Do you remember that puzzle where you have 3 houses and you have to connect each one to the electricity, gas and water supply but none of the pipes can cross over another one? I used to spend hours doodling away on the back of my school books as I was convinced it should be possible

The water butt is overflowing so I've made a temporary modification.
There was an overflow tap at the top already so I could have attached a hosepipe but, a lid-less Butt was handy so I'm catching the water in that. However, to stop birds falling in I've covered it with a plastic bag with the top half of a plastic bottle to act as a funnel. There are a couple of stab holes through the plastic to drain any surface water. 'Twill do until I think of summat more permanent
