  • Design your own grow frame

A follow on from the grow squash ext up frames threads, something easy to make, use, and pack away end of season, hence my quick scetch below,
The idea is for 3 or 4 of these to be conected by tying,to form a pyramid efectby splaying out the bottom of the frame, this will give room for weeding and air circulation, the frames can be made of what ever you have, and size of your choice, woon ones would look nice done with fence paint,if 2 of these towers where put a few feet appart, then link together with strips of,wood, metal, then any long trails can be tied onto it,also the larger fruit that needs support, can be plaved in some netting and secured to the frame, the idea of crossing the wood at an angle sooner than like a ladder,is a stronger frame, another idea, have a tower with squash, cues ext, appart and grow climbing beans in the centre bit, ideal for more in a smaller place,it will look a bit like powere pylons lol,but should be strong and wind stable when put together, the pic only shows 2 side's,gut you get the drift,

Would you need to sink it in the ground, or anchor it somehow, Lottie? I can imagine the whole thing toppling over with a gust of wind.

good thinking VC,i suppose one could make the main outsides longer for that purpose,2....attatch 2 separate bits for anchors part way in from the sides, the when they get rotten, can be replaced easy,or 3knock separate stakes in and tie onto the sides of the main frame,

You could try knocking some metposts into the ground and attach them and also screw the frame in place. I think they would probably survive a nuclear strike then!

How about securing it into the ground by attaching it to some awning anchors. These are quite cheap for a pack of 10 or 20. You could tie the frame to these, they would stop it blowing over in the wind.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.
