I remember on grand designs, the eco house in france cut the bottle so that the wall wasn't so wide.
Personally I would go with something a little less expensive to start with. I made three planters a few years ago, see attached picture, stained them and lined them with plastic. 4 years on I've dug them up and moved them to the allotment, the plastic was frayed where it was visible to the sun but it was fine 18 inches down as was the wood. I used 6 x 1 rough sawn capped with a roofing batten to secure the plastic, and a 2 x 2 post, 300mm into the ground. They made great veg beds, the reason I've moved them is that the area now has chickens, see last two shots. They are slowly taking over.
