Would anyone know the best way to get a broken handle from a spade I've tried drilling chiselling etc but I just cannot seem to get the bottom 3-4" out I thought of pouring a bit of petrol in and lighting it but I'm a bit wary of that.Any ideas anyone I would hate to throw away an otherwise really good spade.

This recommends drilling an eye bolt into the remaing bit of shaft, hanging it up, and whacking the blade until it falls off.

stick the handle part in your bonfire next time youare burning rubbish.

Wind a long screw into the stub, then grip screw head in a vice & pull the spade head or put the shank into a bonfire until red hot, remove from flame & hit the side of the shank with a hammer

Update on this, I thought I would try the suggestion about the big threaded rod and a hammer first anyway I found a old large threaded rod and I screwed that into the remains of the old handle, a couple of bangs on the spade top and walla out came the old handle!!!

Hooray! So frustrating when a seemingly simple job won't work.
