  • Building a cold frame

Looking for some advice regarding a cold frame I am going to build.

In the interests of environmental friendliness, I am looking at a wee project in the next week or so, rather than buying a cold frame, I am going to try making it myself. I do need to point out that I am not great at DIY, but am still capable of putting a few screws in...

A friend has given me the plastic from her polytunnel which split last year under weight of snow and I have obtained the wood from 3 wooden pallets.

I presume posters here will have tried something similar and was looking to see if I could be cheeky and ask for advice on how best to make this.

I was thinking it would be about a metre square and about 600mm high (give or take)

    Thanks in advance

If you have a window company nearby, you could maybe cadge a couple off them, they will let in more light & less likely to blow off.

That's the one I'm plaining on making I don't have a lot of growing space so I can dismantle it and keep it behind the garage when its not needed.

Meant to say, it is around 2m long and around 800mm deep.

Fairly big, but given the need for boosting sunlight and frost protection of young plants you have here, I think we are gonna have to fit quite a lot in it

Can a blowaway greenhouse be used as a coldframe?
