What about a 12 ft long lean to greenhouse against a wall or fence?
If you stand them up end on, stood out from a fence, it will give you idea of size. Fix batons at right angles to the ridges around 6 inches in from each end, build your bottom up a bit (2ft?) and pitch over towards the fence. If you use roof fixing washers between the screws and polycarbonate they will self seal and protect against rain. All you have to do now is windproof the ends. You can either build up with wood, or use a couple of the polycarb sheets screwed on to a frame.
Basically a cheap greenhouse, if you have a wall or fence availableQuanti canicula ille in fenestra ?

what do u use to cut through the double polycarbonate - the thick kind? tried a saw and a stanley knife to no avail. my mum has two big sheets off her conservatory roof but too big to fit into my car. if i can cut them down a bit they will be great

Twin wall polycarbonate is usually cut with a fine tooth wood saw, holding the saw at a shallow angle so as not to damage the sheeting.
You can use a stanley knife but fit a new blade and use a straight edge, cut one side turn over the sheet and make tour opposite cut.
