DIY coldframe query

I have an old frosted glass panel from a living room door about 4ft by 2ft in size I was thinking of using it as the top of a DIY coldframe but I was wondering would the frosting exclude too much light or heat?

Wouldn't have though it would be much different to using polycarb panels - they're not transparent either.

I would have thought it would be better than clear as it will defuse the light a bit more.

I would say it'll be fine, make sure the textured side is facing in and the smooth side is facing the elements, the dirt will have less to grab a hold of.
