I have used an old 'fridge, I made a small hole thru the side put electric cable thru and wired a Bulb holder in, right at the bottom. i then wired a dimmer switch between 'fridge and power socket. I use a 60watt bulb as a heat sourse and regulate the temperature with the dimmer switch. The 'fridge is well insulated so there is very little temperature drop during cold weather. This has served my my needs for the last 6years, and can be set up for about a tenner.

Welcome to the vine No76. I was under the impression seeds needed warmth, not light to aid germination. Do you take them out of the fridge once germinated or leave them in to grow on a bit?sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

OK, understand. I wonder if you would notice any difference using one of these, I know you say you have been using your setup for 6 years so it must work for you.

My OH was wondering if in a well insulated box only a small modern lightbulb would generate enough heat...
