I know they are a nightmare to dig out as Ive got the bf working on digging mine out and its taking forever! Im wondering has anyone got any tips on how to kill em off? someone suggested cutting them right down and nailing them??

Just curious, but how can you do anything to next door's garden? Surely it doesn't belong to you.

Its an abandoned garden never been touched in 20 years, if not more! We get rats and everything from next door and they come into mine. Im gonna ring the owner and offer to buy it. If not im just gonna clean it up and put a fence up for them. Ill ask like before I do it but I dont think he will be bothered with what goes on with it tbh x

Ill get some pics later today and show you all you will be sickened! you know it will be nice once its cleaned up as im sure there is a well or something in there x

On the planning program on telly they intervened in an overgrown garden situation and got it all removed and the owner sent the bill.

Well if there are rats it's environmental health to contact. The rubbish was dealt with by planning - not quite sure how.

                Your local councillors will help.

Damaging someone's garden even if you think it's improving it could land you in hot water though.

Hedges are a haven for wildlife: nesting birds, beetles, slow worms, hedgehogs, all sorts. They also act as windbreaks for the rest of the garden, protecting delicate plants and creating a little microclimate.

Why are you wanting to remove them?

Im only wanting to do the ones at the bottom of the garden (so i can gain access) and the ones in the garden, ill leave the ones along the road fence as I dont mind them but they need cutting back and making neat.

Our councilor lives a few doors off me so Im gonna get on to him and see the council again as the bairn will be out on the patio soon as she is at an age where crawling is just round the corner and I cant be having her catch anything as her heart op is coming up soon.
