I have been given some old aluminium framed secondary glazing. I'm intending to use them as semi-portable coldframe sides by banging stakes into the corners of one of my raised beds and then slotting the glazing in between the stakes. This way hopefully it will cope with almost anything the weather can throw at it (apart from bits of tree!) but I'll be able to lift it out easily for weeding etc. Does this sound feasible? I was originally just going to have a couple of pieces to lay over the beds to warm the soil for the winter and when sowing seed, but its quite lightweight and I'd really like a coldframe. Can anyone come up with a better way of supporting the sides which requires minimal DIY skills and still keeps it reasonably moveable? I'm hoping the idea of banging 4 pieces of wood into each corner won't reduce my growing area too much.
