  • Patio Slabs

I'm fed up of weeds growing on the paths of my plot so I'm thinking of putting down patio slabs. Has anyone else tried this, and has anyone got any bright ideas of where I can obtain said slabs for as little as possible - I've just been outbid on ebay ?

    Try Freecycle/Freegle for slabs.

Try you local recycle centre, and garden stuff is easier/cheaper to bid on through eBay in winter.

I see loads of them, every day, piled up in peoples' gardens. Most people have never heard of Freegle, and wouldn't dream of selling them on eBay (too much bother).

Bike round your neighbourhood, knock on doors, drop a flyer through letterboxes. You'll soon have some if you offer to collect for free, or trade for some strawberries

I'd recommend freecycle , after moving house we had all kinda stuff to get rid off .
We were amazed the amount of people making enquiries .

It tends to be very busy on a weekend when people are at home to advertise items
We were about slow off the mark about some garden planters up for offer.

The whole freecycle/etc movement doesnt seem to be quite as popular up in sunny Alloa, but the local Jewsons sell used slabs at £1.50 each (2x2's). Not free, but not bad even compared to B&M.

            Cheers.
