  • Scarifying the lawn and a brainwave.

Lovely day here in Aberdeenshire, sunny, 24°c, bit windy but lovely none-the-less. Not much to do outside in the veggie plot other than try a keep the polytunnel cool, so decided to scarify the lawns. Not a job I've been looking forward to at all, but needs to be done and I managed an early start.

I have a Mantis, bought because a medical condition prevents me from doing much digging. Anyway, saved up and purchased a scarifying attachment from e-bay, not a bad bit of kit actually, works quite well. So...scarified a big bit of lawn, tea break, then rake it up. Not in this wind, no chance, every time I tried to get a nice pile of debris the wind blew it everywhere. After much cursing and swearing, the brainwave...

The wife looked up from her book and said, 'Don't know why you don't hoover it up with the rotary mower'.

She could have told me an hour ago, would have saved me a lot of tears and sweat. She said 'I thought the exercise would do you good'. Bless her. Anyway, her brainwave works a treat, don't know why I didn't think of it myself.

Haha! I use my mower to collect up leaves and debris, too!

Yep, and you could even use it to line your hanging basket with!
