Practical advice/tips on creating various geometric growing beds

Evening all,

Have recently acquired my own allotment patch and I would love to create some growing beds (such as circular ones) which aren't just rectangular/square in shape.

I was wondering if anyone has any advice on how I can do this practically (it looks good on paper!?

Nice idea.

A lot of garden design principles don't apply here (focal points, surprise vistas etc). But you don't have to stick to straight lines, long sweeping curves might look very good.

Avoid getting too fiddly with it, bold smooth curves will work better than wiggles.

I would keep the paths 15 inches wide and try not to have any point in the beds more than 2 feet from a path so that I can cultivate all the beds without walking on the soil.

You could do something wavey like this scribble, or work in a circle or two. Just keep the beds 3 to 4 feet wide at all times and it'll be fine.

Interesting idea, not the best use of space but if you don't mind that then why not. It will certainly attract alot of attention.

Would suggest that whatever shape you go for that you can reach the whole bed without walking on the bed itself.
