Do you have an engineering degree or something, I am constantly amazed at your ideas.

I reckon a large aluminium beer keg would be the ultimate. My brother in law was production manager for a company in Burton that made the damn things, pity I didnt know then what I know now.

If you know someone with access to a laithe it would be a doddle to machine a thick pipe to accept the bearing as an interference fit, then weld two flanges on to bolt to the barrel. Sometimes you can find bearing carriers in scrap yards on old machinery.

Most definitely not - just a warped mind that always thinks there's a better way of doing things - and I have funny dreams

I think you would want this type of bearing?

And for reference - beer kegs are made of stainless steel not aluminium
