  • Would you buy them again?

Where did you get your seeds from this year? Did they work? Can you recommend them and would you buy them again?
I mainly got mine from Lidl, they were 27p a packet. You can't go wrong for that price really can you? I thought, if they don't work then I haven't forked out a lot for them anyway. They all worked brilliantly! And so, I can really recommend them, both flowers and vegetables.
I also got a lot of James Wong's, with mixed results. I won't be buying those again
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

I'm an official nutter - an official 'cropper' of a nutter! I am sooooo pleased to be a cropper! Hurrah!

This year I only needed parsnip seeds but also picked up cucumber and Di Nizza courgettes from Lidl at the same time.
Rest of my veg was grown using either saved or previous years seeds.
    Location....East Midlands.

I mainly use the allotment "Kings" catalogue. No dud ones there either. I try to only buy from more expensive sources if I'm looking for something special e.g. Kings aren't stocking "Minicole" cabbage this year so will have to hunt it down elsewhere.

I don't buy many seeds as I save as many as possible. If I do buy, staples come from Kings with discount but I usually treat myself to something unusual from Real Seeds who are amazing and will answer any queries by return. Am pleased to support them. Occasionally buy cheaper seeds but those ranges often don't have what I'm looking for and I like growing different to what I can buy.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I bought a lot of franchi seeds from the 50p seed sale in the GSC stores, but that's about it really.. Mainly different squash to try and a few different beans.

Edit: my usual supplier is real seeds though, I like their ethics, and they're local to me - so it's win win.

Ive bought seeds from various places, but mainly the famous auction site where I've picked up lots of bargains - no complaints with growth so far

I'm still working my way through the 50p a pack stash as well and will be again next year!

I use King's as well due to allotment association discount and having met a couple of friendly and knowledgeable people from King's at Chelsea this year I'm even more keen to use them!

I use Real Seeds for the reasons others have given too.

I also use vegetableseeds.net but I'm a little disappointed that the golden cherry tomato seeds I got from them turned out to be far from cherry sized! I get a voucher for blogging with them so I'll use that still!

I'm much the same as Chris (not quite obviously ). 50p seeds, Real Seeds, freebies on magazines and Pennard who sell some interesting seeds. MoreVeg for small packets at small prices. Lidl for flowers usually.
                ...........and of course, the VSP

Normally Lidl & Aldi for me as I am not educated in the varied & wonderful varieties out there but things could change, you never know.

I have to say though that the weird and wonderful don't always live up to expectations and the cheap and cheerful are only cheap because they've stood the test of time. So a bit of experimenting alongside the old reliables is the way to go methinks

I get my sweetpeas from Kings each year, so there's always a few veg on the order form as well

There is always a small order from Seeds of Italy (things I can't get in the 50p sale) and any last minute things I've forgotten are ordered from DT Brown (no P&P) if I can't get them locally.

I like Real Seeds but the minimum order policy is a problem if I only want 1 thing, with such a small plot I really don't need to buy much...........................

Most of my seeds are freebies from the gardening magazines supplemented by 'oddities' from Real Seeds and a few self-saved and from Seed Swaps.

This year I will only be purchasing from Real Seeds to fill a few gaps in my collection - I had fantastic germination rates from all of their stuff this year, and I think that the duds were probably down to my treatment of them rather than the seed itself.

Having recently got an allotment, I learnt that a nearby Allotment Association sells King's Seeds at 50% discount. What's more .. anybody can buy them, not just the allotment holders. I had never actually heard of King's Seeds before.

I'm sure Lidl, Aldi and other similar shops are very cheap, but they might not have so much choice. I could be wrong though.

No matter where you actually buy the seeds, it's still nice to order all the catalogues and have a bit of a browse, or two, or three .....

I too have never heard of Kings or Real! Do they have magazines for perusal during the long nights ahead? I shall have to add them to my collection!
I have started to collect some of my own seeds too this year
And my Dad has just returned from Iran and he has brought me some melon seeds. Not sure if they'll work, but I'd told him I managed to grow 2 musk melons (heavenly!) in the poly tunnel so these are my new challenge. He's also brought me some leek seeds Iranian leeks apparently aren't as large as English ones and you can just cut the tops off and they keep growing so you have a never ending supply, so I can't wait to have a go with those too
