good evening all, I haven't been on for some time but I thought I would share with you all my latest venture.
I have a 24 ft long poultry run and I have halved this and it is currently being transformed into a greenhouse. It will be approx 12ft long by 6ft high and 6 ft wide. my birds have now vacated to last years brassica cage on the top of the allotment.
I am using very heavy duty UV stabilized clear tarpaulin for the covering this will be secured using battens, the chicken mesh is staying on as its uses will be both stability plus it will act as a climbing frame for such things as melons, cucumbers etc. the floor of the run has 3 years of compacted chicken manure so it should be a good growing medium.
I did have a cheapo polytunnel (green one) but the plastic is now starting to fall off but it has served well for the last two seasons.
I also have access to the large adblue containers (like the one I made my composter out of) and these are to be cut in half and planted with root veg and placed in the areas of the plot that really cant be used for much, thus increasing our growing capacity . One question will my greenhouse need a window? I will put up a few pics but here is one from last summer the greenhouse will extend from the plastic shed on the left up to the first flower basket about halfway up.
cheers for now simon
