  • slippy lawn

I have a part of my lawn just off the steps that moves when I stand on it, like when Im walking up the grass and step on to the steps the lawn beneath my back foot moves and its created a right mess!

Ive now got bits of soil showing through my lawn and not just a golf ball size its like a mans size 12 shoe size and a few at that. The soil seems kind of slimey its smooth but sticky.

    Anyone had this problem?

Sounds like a wet clay soil lawn, you should only walk on wet lawns when absolutely necessary. You need a permanent hard surface to walk along to avoid destroying your lawn.

Silty soils are slimy.Usually found on flood plains or valley bottoms. With all the rain we've had the roots of the grass are drowning and you can get a root break. This can cause the turf to basically float on top of the subsoil.
Deep forking with sand added to the tine holes would be my solution, but as has been mentioned, try and stay off it until it dries out a bit.
