  • Renting agricultural land ?

Not sure where to put this but does anyone have any idea where I would start in looking for a few acres of land for horticultural and agricultural use ????

Probably not the best forum to post this in Jake, but I am sure one of our helpful mods will be along and move if required..

Your best bet is to directly approach farmers in your area and/or keep an eye out for what appear to be small unused areas of land that you could enquire about..
How much you looking for ?

I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

I would approach you local agricultural estate agent/ auctioneers, they will put you on their list and you will be informed of every sale.

The thing about agricultural land is that in the countryside fields of 10 acres upwards are surprisingly cheap, but the minute you look at small plots near to a village the price rockets. The horsey set want them and are prepared to pay high amounts for them. I got £25000 10 years ago (with a clause that if it got planning permission for houses I would get half the increased value) for one acre near our village.
It now has stables and a menage on it, though I doubt if they applied for planning permission for those. I also think if you want land for an allotment you might require change of use permission although that is a grey area.

Thanks for your words this is what I've found I'm currently doing research as it is my plan in the bit so distant future to set up a communal farm and resource centre hence why it will need to be fairly near to the town(I live in a village a mill from said town )
