hose pipe problem

I have an outside tap and so i bought a Hozelock 60m Cart With 50m Multipurpose Hose
and when i connect it to the tap it feels quite secure but once i turn the tap on (even slow) the hose falls off, i have been a bought a new hose connector and the same thing happens and i am at my wits end as to what i can do, has anyone got any ideas as to what i can do to stop it happening x

no pics but it all falls off, apart from the white plastic screw at the top

... and is the silver bit falling off the white bit?

yes thats right, i also have the same fitting all in plastic and that falls off too

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago and it was because I had used a connector that had a oneway valve that stopped the water going into the hose so the water was blowing the connector off.

You can get brass ones if you think the plastic is a problem. Veggielots post makes sense too though. Even with a tap on low, it will still equalise at mains pressure and blow the pipe off if there's a valve in the wrong way

it is once water gets through the pipe that it falls off, so i dont think the valve is the problem.

Do you mean the silver part is falling off from the white part?

That is odd, I don't think it should be doing that

Silly question I know but have you taken of the connector that comes with the tap??

Or do you mean that the fitting in #4 stays in place but the hose connector falls of that fitting??

You can get brass ones if you think the plastic is a problem.

Brass ones are definitely the way to go. I used to use plastic but they don't last. Brass is more cost effective in the long run and more robust.

I have been given this advise (hope the pic works) so i am going to give this a try and i will let you all know if it works.

The outside taps usually have a tapered part on the end (like in this picture) so that you can push a hose pipe on the end without any special fittings. The best method is to put the end of the hose in boiling water for a couple of minutes before pushing it on the tap. Secure it with a hose clip.

Pic doesn't work, but I know what you mean - I have a similar set up as my hose reel has a male connection. However, this does mean that you won't have a quick release from the tap. A brass connector as described earlier would let you quickly clip the pipe on and off
