Cell or module trays

Hi all
If sowing in module or cell trays when do I move the seedlings on? I'm hoping to get lots down over the Easter holidays with my little girl and think I'm going to use these trays to start things off. Do I wait until the roots have almost filled the cell to form a sort of plug plant or as soon as first true leaves are on show?

Hi Mumbles, May I ask what you intend to grow and the size of the cells I.e. 24 per standard tray?

pretty much a mixture of everything that doesnt mind being transplanted, and yes they are the standard 24 tray things

The 24 cells are decent sized for most plants, so my advise would be to wait until you can see the roots coming through the bottom, however i wouldn't advise messing with the seedlings too much as this can stress them. Hopefully by the time you can see the roots the plants will be a decent size and will then be able to be planted to their final position.
