What gauge wire is needed to make DIY cloches

I think I'll make some DIY cloches, which will probably end up as netting supports as the summer is nearly here.

What size of wire, or gauge is suitable please ?

The old fashioned metal coat hangers were probably the ideal size, but we don't have any of those left.

I know it is common to use the blue or white pipes, but I think metal loops would be easier to store when they are not needed ... they are probably cheaper too.
