  • Rabbit fencing using conduit

Most plot holders on the allotments have timber framed chicken mesh barriers around their vegetable beds, made from roofing laths and chicken mesh.

In the USA they use electrician PVC conduit, rather than timber which I think looks better and would probably last longer.

Look at this tomato cage .... a bit over the top in my opinion ... and probably not cheap.

Building PVC Tomato Cages - YouTube

I'm thinking of making up panels of approx size 3m x 0.6m and simply join at the corners with cable ties. For each panel, which would have a central support I would need 2 x 3m lengths, 3 x 600mm lengths, 4 elbows and 2 T pieces. Maybe I might even consider having 2 intermediate supports.

Would this be suitable please ?

I thought the tom cage in the video was quite good and I've just been googling for 15mm pipe and fittings. I'm getting lots of hits for push fit stuff which of course would make this a much costlier project but I'm struggling to find solvent weld 15mm pipe and fittings. Do you not get that these days?

Also electrical conduit is returning flexible stuff which is not what's needed. What should I be searching for?

Apologies OP, for not actually helping you with your original question.

wowsers . personally i think this is something that should only be considered by the wealthy or anyone who works in a bulding trade where they can get offcuts for free but unless you are stealing you wouldnt get the t's or elbows for free. in regards to your original question what do you want to frame your beds off for and if it is for rabbits do you intend on putting a mesh on your frame..if so,how will you hold your mesh? have you considered using metal tracking? i use it in abundance. it is cheap, extremeley strong very light and so easy to manipulate . i put a thread on here ages ago about it .ill look for it in a min and send you the link as i beleive i poated a youtube vid on the ease of use ..i left some lying in the grass by the pond for over a year and i used it the otherday and it was as shiny as new. ..happy diy'ing tho..i love it!!!
