Got an ebay seller local to me who sells 1000litre IBCs that have been thoroughly cleaned so will be ordering one of them up shortly. Where I plan to site it means it will harvest water off the South Side of the roof via the downpipe.
But, in the same place is the kitchen and I have a sink and a half arrangement there and the ability to plumb both sinks individually. Question is, what is good and bad to harvest from the wastewater supply? We all waste a lot of water waiting for the water to run hot so that would be the starter for 10.
However, what else is acceptable? Assume water from the washing machine is a no-no? How about the washing up water or would the detergents etc be a bad thing too?
Im thinking that I should plumb the half sink to the IBC and only use that to harvest the good stuff, the outfall is quite high and I can partially bury the IBC to make sure the outfall is above the level of the overflow point in the IBC so I dont get standing water in the drain.
Is shower/bath water OK for garden watering? Would be a mission to harvest this though.
