I made a huge party area at the end of the garden around 12 years ago out of decking. Other than jet washing every spring it has been left as is.
To complete the party area we built a tiki bar this year and whilst carrying timber my foot went through a section of rotten decking. Having had a good look, I have now replaced around 20 pieces of decking due to the ends rotting. All of the uncut boards and indeed uncut ends are ok, its just the cut ends that I didn't treat before laying that have rotted.
The moral of this story is if you are using treated timber, treat any cut ends to give them the same life expectancy of the uncut timber.
