Good gloves

Hi

Can anyone recommend a good pair of gardening gloves? I have been stung and thorned so many times through my gloves I forgot I was wearing them

I always use builders gloves. They are strong leather and work a treat - have never been "bitten" by anything unless I have a hole in the glove

Not cheap though, probably cost about £10 but well worth it.

I've never found any gloves that will be strong enough not to wear through on my right index finger pretty quickly but thin enough that you can still feel stuff and gave now given up and just buy cheapish ones and regularly replace.

I buy rigger gloves from scr###ix £2.09 a pair but only use them for clearing otherwise just good old wilkos

Expensive, but they are extremely tough and allow you to be nimble too. Best I've ever bought.

Hi, I was going to say builders gloves. I have a pair and I have found that I don't feel any thorns or stingers. Last time I didn't wear them a hawthorn got me and I remembered them then.

Gloves? I'm with Monty Don and only wear latex gloves - and then only when propagating Euphorbias or anything else with irritating sap.

I don't like wearing gloves but some jobs require them and I've also got a nettle problem.
I bought the same pair of gloves a few time now, usually cost around a tenner although they are £15 from my garden centre. I have very small hands so often gloves are useless as the fingers are much too long.
These are the ones I buy although they only last a season as the fingers do wear through

Can anyone recommend a good pair of gardening gloves?

I can't feel anything with gloves on, so didn't use them until I discovered the Weedmaster Plus.
They don't last more than a season because I use them every day, and they aren't thorn proof but will stop nettle stings.


My fingertips are numb so I can pick nettles with bare fingers, which always impressed the children

Thanks, it's more for stings (and gross things like accidentally grabbing a slug which I did the other day!) than thorns as stings itch me for ages
