Plastic storage box.

I have just taken on a new allotment which needs digging over totally. Long term plan is to get a wooden shed. At the moment though I thought about getting a plastic storage box as I don't drive and would have to take tools back and too each time I went.

Now I have read reviews and there seems to be collective couple of bad reviews on each one I am looking with people complaint of moulding or hinges breaking.

I would need something tall or long to fit my hoe in which when roughly measuring against myself seemed about 140cm roughly.

Now question is am I reading to much into the bad reviews and can anyone make any reputations?

Don't know much about plastic storage boxes but whatever you use make sure it is secure and lockable. I am lucky enough to have a big garden but it seems that others have a security issue on allotments.

We are not allowed sheds on my site so storage boxes are the only option. When I first had my plot I did buy a plastic one. However after a break in, one panel was broken and the whole box rendered useless. When I replaced it I bought a wooden one, on the basis that it can be repaired. Fortunately we haven't had any more break ins and I have refelted and repainted this year and still looks very smart.
After the winter storms earlier in the year it was mainly plastic boxes which were blown around and not the wooden ones. I'd get another wooden one if I had to replace it.

I have found some bigger ones but the price keeps going up and I am struggling to justify the spend for something that is a stop gap, with the plan being to get a shed next year.

Solution get the cheaper one that will fit most things in then carry (only a hoe or a rack) with me which shouldn't be to bad when ever I need them. It's a ten minute walk

Try making a wooden one out of pallet timber it'll be cheap and repairable

What I did before I got a shed was wrap my tools up in black binliners, then hide them around the plot, eg behind crops, under netting, inside water butts

I got a site storage box cheap off eBay, it's metal and pretty secure but still cost more than my shed which was free off freecycle
