  • Rain Water Diverter

Spotted one of these on ebay. Thought it looked really good.

Has anyone here got one fitted? If you have, can anyone tell me whether you can fit a hosepipe to it? I've got a steel water tank, the problem is it's about 50 metres away from the down pipe I'd like to connect it to...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

There seem to be lots of different RW Diverters.
Can you tell us which one you're interested in please?

All of my water butts are connected to a downpipe using rainwater diverter like this one:

Is that what you had in mind?

Yes dear Wendy, it's like that, but white.

There is no reason why you cannot fit a hosepipe to it, it may need a bit of modification as I think the corrugated pipe is wider than a standard hosepipe. You will also have to incorporate an overflow from your tank as the diverter will not be able to feed it back down the drain as intended.

Thank you, dear Mally. I'll give it a go.

When it rains, I catch it and bucket it down. Though there's obviously a limit to how much of that you can do. And when it rains at night ....
So I thought this would make life a lot easier.

The water tank has a drainage hole at the top so excess water can drain off.

I have the exact same type of diverter as in WendyC's picture, it came with the water butt. The guttering I fitted to my smallish 8x6 shed has been sufficient so far to keep my 210 litre water butt full enough for me to water eleven (yes, I know ) blueberry plants with this attached to the downpipe.
