Has anyone had any experience with leaf vacuum/mulchers and could recommend one?

Oddly enough I've just been given one of these as a birthday pressie so will be interested in peoples thoughts/opinions - only an Aldi one so not super expensive, but I've not had a chance to try it out yet!

I had a Black & Decker some 10 years ago a freebie. I gave it away, though things may have changed now.

Not a fan... Just wait for a dry day and use your mower on the highest setting!

I had one about 10 year ago too, mine was part of a ryobi multi tool set. I found it too heavy to use and it was easier to pick up the leaves with those big plastic hand things.

Being a tall Ape, it gave me back problems as it wasn't long enough to reach the ground. Although it had wheels, I still had to stoop to get it to pick leaves up.

Think we will just do a little at a time...there are so many trees surrounding the house that as you clear one section and move to the next, the leaves are back. Thought the vacuum idea would be good but have changed my mind and will do the clearing up the old fashioned way!

Join the club Jay, we've got a couple of conker trees surrounding the house. I had a plan, little and often but already the leaves are being dragged in during the Spring it's worse, the bl**dy kids and OH go out with just socks on and bring in loads of sticky buds!

Best bet is to wait till all the leaves have dropped then do a mass clear up. Assuming you can put up with them till then.

The problem is we get so much rain here we really have to clear them up pretty quickly or you end up with a muddy mess which gets trailed in by the mutts...bad enough when it's just the soggy grass they are on. A bonus, if there is one, is we get some exercise!

Knock up a wire cage to keep them in & you'll have lovely leaf mold for mulching next year.

Hi BM, sorry if you have already said but just wondered if you had used your leaf vac on wet leaves? If so, how did it cope? Thanks in advance.m

Not bad Jay, as long as you don't try to pick up too many at once, then it's poke a stick up the tube time...........switched off first of course......................but once I got used to how much it could cope with it shredded it up really well.
