Yeah I know what you mean, I've decided to wait till they have all dropped as you end up going round in circles.

Well the leaf vacuum/blower has been great until today when it decided to not blow. It still vacuums ok. Checked the fan and that appears to be ok...anyone got any ideas?

Take the pipe off, undo the 4 screws at the top so you can access the shredder. Inside you will see 2 openings (one for the blower & 1 for the Vac). Check that the flap is moving between the openings as you move the lever. Let me know how it goes.

Sort of relevant... We planted a load of trees three years ago. They are now maturing nicely - hurrah, but now have all dropped their leaves - boo. Anyway, I've been gathering up all the leaves and throwing them onto the borders. The idea is, this is what happens in nature, the leaves will break down and be taken into the soil be worms etc. BUT, now I've tidily and painstaking done all this, and the garden is leaf-less looking and tidy... Have I done the right thing? Or, have I just made a lovely winter home in every border of my garden for slugs and snails to hang out?!!!
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

I'm an official nutter - an official 'cropper' of a nutter! I am sooooo pleased to be a cropper! Hurrah!

Ok, give me a shout if you get stuck. It's only a 10 minute job.

Like you say ancee, it's what nature does. You could however contain them in a cage for leafmold next year or just put them on beds as a mulch.

OH vacuumed up a load yesterday, bunged them on the veg patch & I covered them in poo. Lots of worms in the poo to help the process.
                      Another happy Nutter...

Bought a Bosch ALS 30 from B&Q - £61,80 net of OAP discount,
Collected 15 bags of leaves all shredded - in three days..
Error of judgement - used it on a flower bed to collect loose leaves.. vacuumed loose soil ((heavy) as well which clogged up fan and caused it to block. Took 30 minutes this am to remove 0.75kg of soil...

Very well built bag and zip - these tend to go first of any blower /vac.
                        Lots of spares if needed..
                        Very sturdy build.

Bit fiddly to change from vac to blow...and vice versa.

                        Highly recommended.

If you use it on twigs it may jam or chip the plastic blade

............and the longer you leave it the harder it sets...........best vaccing leaves when dry & crisp.

Ok Jay but as I say above, if it is blocked with soil, the longer you leave it the harder it will set..............and yes, I am talking from experience..........
