Thanks all - I off back to the drawing board.
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison

I don't know what seeper hose is. For many years I have been irrigating trees, bushes and plants using a 16mm diameter plastic pipe with drip feeders at 30 cm intervals. The pipe is connected to a lead in pipe of 16mm diameter. This pipe is connected to the water tap via a pressure reducer and a filter. I have several of these irrigation lines with varying amounts of waterto different lines. The whole system is controlled by a simple computerised garden irrigation system. If I need more water in any given place I can just loop the pipe around the plant or bush. As far as water loss due to evaporation is concerned I have the system operating in the early morning.
