Friendly farmer with a tractor fitted with forearm loader or a telehandler
Freindly builder with a digger or a telehandler

Wheelbarrow but it's back breaking work. Last year we had 6 tonnes of slate delivered that was intended for the back garden borders. It took 3 weekends to shift it from the drive to the borders, horrid horrid job but great exercise!

Yep BB - that's a distinct possibility. We keep meaning to ask our neighbour for a favour or two... this might be the time!

Your suggestion of plyboard might well work if you can get some thick enough to prevent bending and you lay the boards so they slightly overlap with the first board on top of the second, that way you won't have a step to climb from one board to the next.

Another thought canvass straps around the car axle would give a good fixing for a Tirfor winch enabling you to do everything slowly so you don't loose control and moving the car would give you some lateral movement. They take no effort to use I have even had SWMBO help me move large objects with a Tirfor.
Thanks. We have a hand winch... i just like using machinery!!! Your suggestion of attaching it to a car is interesting. Thanks.

Stan did you get the bags moved, I would have suggested placing them on poly sheeting wetting the grass and then pulling them over with your hand winch.
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Thanks - yes. Many hands make light work. I was out of the country but my Mrs managed to rope in my parents, my best mate, my Dad's cousins daughters husband from Canada and they shifted it all by hand!

Find a friendly farmer or labourer on a building site with a telescopic loader and give them a few quid .
Or if the drive is flat and has a smooth surface have it delivered on pallet then borrow a pallet truck and push and pull it . very heavy .only work on completely flat surface. Forklift ? Otherwise shovel and wheelbarrow or buckets . you can tow with a big 4x4 with a tow bar but will need a new clutch after .I was told to by the boss and it wasn't my 4x4
