Is there any way to re-purpose these glass doors?

OXBERG Glass door - birch veneer - IKEA

I have two of these in the garage (only they are the previous version with no middle cross bar, just glass). They've kicked about for so long now that they are chipped and scratched and are not really suitable for using 'as is'.

I was wondering if I could use them in the garden somewhere but they are not wood, just that veneered particle board Ikea are so fond of using. As such, I expect the damp weather would kill them in days.

Is there anything I could do to them? Or maybe I could get the tempered glass out and just use that?

Or maybe they should just go with me on the next dump run?

The only thing that springs to mind is some kind of cold frame.

No, it's really not heavy. I expect it's quite thin compared to normal 'garden type' glass iyswim.

Get some glass paint and be all arty farty with your imagination.................

Lol, it's not the glass I'm thinking about though, it's the frame around it. There's not much point in doing anything to it if the frame is just going to disintegrate soon. I'd need to do something to the frame to make it more weatherproof.

Mmmmm, my daughter is a good artist, perhaps I could get her to paint some decent crops on the glass and I could lie it over the rubbish crops I have that are not doing much because there's just not enough sun! Nowt like kidding yourself on.

If you can paint the frame upto and onto the glass to keep the wet out, they'd make a nice top to a cold frame. The particle board stuff does not like being wet even once so would fail over a single winter I suspect. Otherwise take out the glass and make simple frames of pallet wood and have that to top a cold frame.
I recently used two glass doors from a 1970s Schreiber display cabinet, fortunately they are some kind of hardwood and should do a few years as they are. I strapped then together with a couple of pallet planks across them and stuck the whole on a frame made of more pallet wood. Total price, about £3.50 for two strap hinges.
