  • I'm after some staging, any ideas?

My poor shelves are finally giving way in my greenhouse. I'm after some decent stuff with a large table top.

We just sell the metal mesh stuff at work, I've had it before and don't really like it.

    Thanks guys

Are you wanting to buy or make?

Have you googled images for greenhouse staging? There are lots of different types!

yeah but a lot of them are flimsy, I either want something that I can knock up my self or get easy from a walk in shop

Can't help you, sorry. I have some aluminum staging that I've had for 30+ years, some wooden staging my neighbour gave me, benches made from secondary glazing window frames, a computer desk and an ironing board!

I can understand a computer in your g/house-poly tunnel, but doing the ironing in there is a bit OTT.
Feed the soil, not the plants.

Doing the ironing is a bit OTT so I decided to get rid of the ironing board. However, being height adjustable and narrow, its perfect for the middle of the GH - and easily moved, folded up, when not needed

Great idea on the ironing board, VC. I bet I can find one or two (at least) in Mr Snoop's junk pile. It'll give him an excuse to crow about how it's all useful!

Is it worth you asking round trade merchants if they have any old damaged worktops then all you have to do is stick some legs on.

I only have an 8x6 so space is at a premium. This time of year I use a pair of plastic sawhorse's with planks laid across, this gives me a 2ft x 7ft table. Later in the season all will be folded away and I can use the whole floor area for tall plants.

My GH is the same size as yours Potty so I've found seed tray frames works well for me, once I've done with the seed trays i leave the frames in place as Tom supports.

I just use folding tables i've scrounged. As mentioned, when i want to plant in the bottom of the beds I just fold the atable up and store it. Sometimes i assemble it on the plot somewhere and use it as a potting bench in the sunshine!

                              Ev's!

Don't know how you are fixed DIY wise, but after a basic table frame, use "Roof Latting" Comes cheap as chips, and can clad an entire greenhouse for less than a tenner!
