We are working on the principle that walls absorb sunlight/heat during the day and give off that heat during the colder nights. Examining walls etc as the snows melt indicates there is something to this. So we obtained the landlords permission for a special 'fence' behind the espalier fruit trees to protect from cold winter winds and provide nominal heat from the horizontal sunlight.
Had to buy the uprights which are burried in 24"+ with mainly stone ramed into the holes (collected from the plot). Holes made by hand with a 6" Auger.
Also bought the long lengths of 2x4 and 2x2, the remainder is pallet planks which I spent too long accumulating and taking apart before cutting to size/shape on the chop saw.
This is the final assembly after erection a few weeks ago. The form is 'L' shaped with the trees on the outside.
