^^^^^^^^You certainly can. Their use to put slack cables etc under strain, the threads on the extending portions are one right hand and one left. The idea being that you extend the two parts out connect the cables and the turn the central part this shortens the device equally and puts the cable under stress.

^^^^^^^ What size would I need to get Potty?

They all seem to be M sizes.

Sorry Bernie, had to laugh, that's absolutely NOT true. Trust me, it's my trade. It will hold a hanging basket on one hanger let alone probably three and you could swing off it too at the same time. The fixings in the wall will come out first.

Don't worry Lumpy, it's not true, crack on. You will find it's actually better quality than the same designed jack chain that is attached to most hanging baskets that you can buy. Mountain out of a molehill, absolutely fine. Here's another place to buy it. If you still are unsure, it's 7.5kg for an entire single 10mtr length so will be no problem times three and in short lengths, will be in excess of somewhere at least over 25Kg minimum.

P.S. Just a thought Lumpy......I would be more worried about your fixings in the wall holding the weight rather than focussing on the chain if it's that heavy. Worrying about the chain loading pails in insignificance.

Jack chain was not used without safety wires in the oil industry, due to it being prone to failure, I saw a couple of aftermaths where light fittings had fallen from the sky, luckily no one was injured.

I've no idea what sort of chain it is - its whatever they use to make hanging baskets. Don't want to get involved in discussions about chains - I'm just a simple chicken and Lumpy's an elephant We do things with string and pegs
