  • Garden Design Software with shadows

We're thinking of moving to a new build house. However, it has a North-East facing garden and the garden is much smaller than the one we have at the moment.

I'm concerned that it will be in almost permanent shadow (particularly in winter). Once upon a time I came across a (free) garden design package that allowed you to see how the sun would light your garden based upon your position and things around.

I've been looking on the web but can't find anything. Does anybody know of anything that they've used?

Try SunCalc.net .It's not quite what you want but it gives you an idea of where the sun rises/sets around your house at any time of the year.
Its fun to play with, anyway

Thanks VC, its helped. Now I think I know how the sun moves around the house and garden. Still can't work out how much will be in shadow because it depends upon the height of the house and the length of the garden. However, what it does show is that in summer there will be sunlight on the back of the house.
